True Elements Butterscotch Muesli REVIEW

A good breakfast can make a great start of the day. And the options for this are honestly not few, but the preparation time they take, strikes off most options from my list. Some that are claimed to be healthy, a detailed look into their ingredients list can again change your idea of those being healthy ! So, choosing the right breakfast is a tough choice I guess, and my quest is still on…

Today I will be reviewing the True Elements Muesli in the butterscotch flavour.

About the product:

The product comes in a tall cardboard tub with plastic lid. Inside is the muesli packed in an aluminium and plastic packet. It also contains a tiny moisture absorbent pouch which is advised to remove before consumption.

But, I happened to tear apart the aluminium plastic packet completely and hence had to store it directly in the cardboard tub . I retained the moisture absorbent pouch, carefully avoiding it to pour it into the food  each time,  and the crunch remained to be perfect!

My take on this product:

Firstly I like the idea that all the cereals included are not blended but are in their Real forms. The formulation is a mix of just a few ingredients that can be easily identified. The flavour of butterscotch is not as a blended essence but it is in the form of butterscotch nuts.

The formulation is not 100% healthy because it does contain white sugar plus invert sugar. But still I chose to purchase it in the thought that I can probably skip the extra sugar I add to my breakfast meal. But on trying it, I discovered that it doesn’t impart enough sweetness to make it tasty. The butterscotch nuts are also quite a few and so does impart the butterscotch flavour throughout.

It is mentioned in the packaging that it can be consumed as a snack, with milk or with yoghurt. I tried all three and here’s my opinion:

As a snack: This way it tastes the best as the mild sweetness and the butterscotch flavour is detectable and the crunch is something I enjoy!

With milk: This way the sweetness is absolutely diluted and I need to add some extra sweetner like honey etc. The butterscotch does melt in the milk and hence one can’t enjoy the flavour. The cereals soften in 5-10 mins but never get mushy.

With yoghurt: I initially thought that this would be the best option. But on trying it I could neither get a taste of the butterscotch flavour nor any sweetness. It made the meal so heavy that wasn’t even easily digestible ( I started facing difficulties of indigestion in consuming it this way and hence stopped)

My overall opinion on this product:

If you are in a habit of skipping breakfast or having an unhealthy one, then this is a good option to change for and it is also an easily on the go meal. But if you are extremely diet conscious then there are other completely sugar free options available in the market to opt for. Also, if taste is a big factor for you, then lemme tell you, that you might not highly enjoy this muesli.

But this true elements muesli is a very cost effective options with no hidden ingredients and so I can’t call this a bad option either.

How much would I rate it out of 5:

3.5 out of 5
