Bonjour ladies, today I am going to review the livon hair serum..so,there has times where we are in a hurry and thus don’t have the time to follow up with a conditioner or it’s just that we need a moisturiser after shampooing that is kind of lighter than that of a conditioner.. and that’s when we reach out for a hair serum. Now, choosing the right serum for my hair has always been a difficult task;but as this one, being the most widely available in the market.. I thought of giving it a try.
Now, the problem with most serums is the high content of silicone in them. Though silicone plays it’s role in detangling the hair and giving it a shiny and glossy look , but it’s disadvantages on the other hand weigh more.. Silicones are minerals Firstly.. And secondly the glossy look that it gives is just an illusion.. What it actually does is , it forms a coat over our hair strands and this coat prevents any kind of nutrition (like protein) from nourishing (I won’t say entering – the hair shaft is a dead cell) the hair… Now,on repeated accumulation of this silicone coat, the hair strands inside gets weaker and Ultimately it causes breakage of hair.
So,I prefer hair moisturisers silicone free…(But mind you… silicone free ones won’t give that same glossy look either)
Now back to the product:
It comes in trial pack sachets,as well as in bottles of 20ml,50ml,100ml with a flip cap.. The serum is a somewhat thick transparent liquid.
Price: The 50 ml bottle is priced at 125 INR. (P.S. in case of hair serums I have always noticed that the sachets are cheaper than the bottles… just like in this case.. for the sachet 1 ml costs 1.67 INR….but for the bottle,1 ml costs 2.5 INR)
Cyclopentasiloxane,cyclotetrasiloxane,dimethiconol,tocopheryl, acetate, mineral oil
Usage directions: well, the livon website provides various ways how one can use it..
- DAB A FEW DROPS LIGHTLY ON YOUR HAIR TO SMOOTHEN THE FLYAWAYS AND FRIZZ
- FOR THAT ULTRA SMOOTH AND GLOSSY LOOK, DAB A BIT OF LIVON SERUM BEFORE YOU BLOW DRY, STRAIGHTEN OR CURL YOUR HAIR
- LIVON SERUM IS BEST APPLIED TO DAMP HAIR. BUT IN CASE YOU’RE ON-THE-GO, TRY AND DAMP YOUR HAIR A BIT!
- USE ON SHAMPOOED AND TOWEL DRIED DAMP HAIR. EASE YOUR TANGLES BY APPLYING GENTLY ALONG THE HAIR LENGTH: START WITH THE MIDDLE PORTION AND WORK YOUR WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HAIR LENGTH.
My take on this product:
This serum has a beautiful smell that refreshes your mood after bath (if you want to use it on damp hair, because that’s how I use it).It spreads evenly on my palms on my hair as well…detangles the hair to some extent..But still I am not satisfied with the product because it weighs down my hair and hopefully ladies with thin hair or fine hair might face similar issues. (P.S. I just took a pea sized drop of serum for my medium length hair)… Also instead of the silky smooth finish it gave me a kind of greasy look which I didn’t like..But, frizziness was reduced to a small extent!
Give it a thumbs up 👍 for:
- Great smell
- Contains vitamin e
- Travel friendly (convenient packaging)
- Affordable price
- Can be used on damp hair as moisturiser as well as on dry hair for heat styling
- Reduces frizziness to some extent
- Works as a detangler
Give it a thumbs down 👎 for:
- Contains MINERAL OIL (I strictly avoid all products that contain mineral oil)
- Contains silicone
- Not of botanical extracts
- Weighs down hair
- Gives a greasy look
My overall opinion on this product:
A big no for ladies with thin hair (less voluminous) or fine hair strands…but ladies with medium or thick hair strands or with voluminous hair can give it a try as hopefully using a small amount won’t weight down your hair… just make sure you spread it evenly throughout all the hairs else it might give a greasy look on any kind of hair…
How much would I rate it out of 10:
I would rate it 2.5 out of 5.For more such interesting stuff, follow me on social media:
