Biotique aloe vera face & body sun lotion (spf 30) review

A good sunscreen is really hard to find. Sometimes its too heavy on skin and at other times its not so effective. Amongst so trials of sunscreens from various brands, today I am here with a herbal sunscreen (from the brand biotique) which is not probably the best but neither do I regret purchasing this one. Why? Well, I will be reviewing the same just now…keep reading😆

About the product:

The sunscreen comes in the regular biotique packaging, which is a plastic, translucent white bottle with a yellow cap. The sunscreen is a runny milky white thin liquid which is very  light on skin (that absolutely feels like water). It has a strong herbal fragrance and the packaging mentions that its SPF is 30 (though the herbal ones don’t have a definite spf, it is just an approximation)

My take on this product:

Because of the fact that the herbal sunscreens have super light formulations unlike the physical sunscreens, I decided to pick this one (which also mentions an approximate spf of 30 ; I found these same properties in the fizzy fern sunscreen as well, but as its consistency is thicker than that of this biotique, I used to use it only during winter). I was initially very happy with this light formulation which feels like I haven’t applied anything on my skin until I discovered that it gets tacky  in 10-15 minutes post application. But it can be dealt with if I wash or wipe my skin once I get indoors.

(P.S. this is not going to be a problem if you don’t have super oily

Skin) Coming to the SPF its just fine for my duration of sun exposure but its favourability will vary person to person. I like the fragrance of this sunscreen as well and also liked the fact that its travel friendly. Also I sometimes apply it on my hands and feet ,but post application of body butter because its formulation is way too light for body skin.

Other discussions:

  • I don’t feel any need to apply any moisturiser beneath the sunscreen on my face and so I directly apply this sunscreen post toner.
  • This sunscreen can be applied under makeup as well, provided you set it well with compact, loose translucent powder or anything you prefer.
  • Also, I noticed that this sunscreen, though not expensive, is a bit pricier than other biotique products ( Now its upto you to decide whether it is a pro or a con 😂😂😂)

I would give it a thumbs up 👍 for :

  • Nice packaging
  • Travel friendly
  • Nice fragrance
  • Very light on skin
  • Mentions SPF
  • SPF is apt
  • No harmful chemicals
  • Doesn’t need a moisturiser base

I would give it a thumbs down 👎 for :

  • Gets tacky post application

How much would I rate it out 5:

4.5 out of 5
