Charcoal based products have recently gained a lot of popularity in the market starting from charcoal peel off masks to charcoal face wash and charcoal body wash for their highly effective cleansing properties.
Recently I have come across a charcoal and green tea soap from an organic brand Aerth Naturals and decided to give it a try.
Here I come with a review of the same.
About the product:
The product comes in a simple transparent plastic wrapped packaging and no other hard covering as such. Advantage is one can see the colour and texture whilst purchase but the disadvantage is its high chances of damage. The soap is dark black in colour and has no strong fragrance as such.
This well balanced combination of activated charcoal and green tea will help you clear your skin off toxins and grime, while nourishing it at the same time. It makes an ideal choice for a detoxifying post-workout cleanser. Activated charcoal draws out hidden impurities, while green tea tightens pores and provides an antioxidant boost! Each Aerth Naturals soap is handmade, SLS, SLES, parabens and strictly cruelty free.
Wet skin with water, gently apply the soap and rinse.
Store in a clean and dry place.
Avoid direct sun exposure.
Price: 145 INR for 100 grams
My take on this product:
I generally prefer soaps with a pronounced beautiful fragrance but the fact that this soap hardly has a noticeable fragrance didn’t impress me. It does lather sufficiently well and its cleansing is also quite effective . Also I am happy with the fact that it doesn’t make my skin super dry. My skin doesn’t feel stripped off of all moisture.
But one thing which I was found very disappointing is that on my first use itself, after using it for a minute or two, tiny granular particles started showing up on the surface of the soap (No, I didn’t drop the soap on the floor for sure) Generally this is the formulation of exfoliating soaps like the cinnamon soap from this same brand, Aerth Naturals. But firstly, it doesn’t mention that this charcoal and green tea soap is supposed to be an exfoliating one. Secondly, the particles are so rough and edgy, that they literally scratch the skin and thus I have to be super careful using this soap, which is completely a thumbs down.
p.s. I feel its just a defect with the piece that I received and not everyone is going to face the same problem. Also, with further use, the rough particles disappeared.
I would give it a thumbs up 👍 for:
- Contains charcoal and green tea
- Effective cleansing
- Doesn’t dry out skin
- Nice lather
I would give it a thumbs down 👎 for :
- uneven texture
- no great fragrance
How much would I rate it out of 5:
3.5 out of 5
